  • Who do I get the monthly payment from?

    JWHomestay makes monthly homestay payment to hosts every month.

    1st month rent will be paid to host in advance to reserve the room before student moves in.

    $1000 damage deposit is held by JWHomestay as 3rd party only. Hosts can claim damage to JWHomestay with supportive evidence.

  • Can I charge the student directly?

    Hosts are not allowed to charge student directly.



Before booking


  • What do I need to provide while hosting?

    3 healthy meals per day

    bed, desk, lamp, closet

    Tolite paper

  • How long does it take to confirm the reservation?

    It takes few days to few weeks to communicate bwtween us and the student's family. However, JWHomestay will notice our host  ASAP when we receive the reservation deposit from students. 

  • Can I modify my preference?

    Hosts are welcome to select students by gender, age, nationality, and eg accroding to the house situation. NO discrimination is allowed in any JWHomestay  member's family.

  • Is my information safe?

    All homestay information will be held by JWHomestay and JWHomestay only.

  • What pictures do I need to provide?
    • Student room photo x 3  and room level
    • Student bathroom photo x 2
    • Kitchen photo x2 
    • Living room photo x2 
    • Family picture x 2 
    • Food pictures
  • What can I know about the student?

    JWHomestay will provide a full student's information report to the host:

    • Name:  TIAN, Haoran
    • Age: 16
    • Grade: 10
    • Arrival Date: 2019/07/30
    • Gender: Male
    • Citizenship: Chinese
    • School: Argyel Secondary School
    • School address:  11762 106 St, Edmonton, AB T5M 1X1
    • Official School Acceptance Letter (LOA)
    • Custodian Declaration From from Immigration Canada
    • Health & Medical Insurance (included in tuition)

  • What information do I need to provide back to the student?
    • Home address 
    • Monthly price 
    • How many students are you hosting now?
    • How old are they and Where are they from?
    • How many family members living with you now?
    • Main hosts' jobs 
    • Main language in home
    • Children' s age and gender
    • Home country (for immigrants only)
    • Experience of hosting by years
    • Special houst rules
    • Extra services that you provide


  • How does the contract date work?

    Homestay payment will be caculated from the 1st day to 30th or 31st.  

    Those move in in the middle of the month will be charged by days


    Example: 

    Student A moves in on April. 10th, 2019, homestay rent is $1200/month

    April 10th, 2019 to April 30th, 2019 will be paid as  

    ($1200/30) x 20 days = $800


    First payment will be $800+$1200 = $2400



Finance

    • 8% to rate below $1200/month (including $1200)
    • 10% to higher homestay rates
    • Commission is charged monthly

  • How much do I get paid for keeping the room during vacatoin?

    JWHomestay pays 45% of monthly rent to reserve the empty room when shtudent left for a one month vacation or more.


While staying


  • What do I need to provide to the student?

    3 healthy meals per day

  • What am I responsible for the student?

    Homestay hosts are responsible for students daily meals and living condition only.

  • Who can I contact when emergency?
    • Minors: you can contact the student's local custodian or homestay agency
    • Adults: you can contact the homestay agency directly. 
  • How do I claim damages made by student?

    Claim the damage with evidence within 7 business days to JWHomestay.

  • Do I need to provide a receipt to the student?

    Hosts do not need to provide receipts to students, JWHomestay does.


Termination


  • Who can terminate the contract?

    Both host and student could terminate the contract with a 30-day notice to JWHomestay.

  • How early do I need to notice the student if I want to terminate the contract?

    At least 30 days notice.

  • What happen if the student wants to move out within contract?

    Half deposit of $500 must be paid to host as penalty when student wants to move out on his/her own demands.
